Our Events Series

Disagree with a Professor
Our most popular event, "Disagree with a Professor" is a series where we bring together UVA professors and students for informal discussion and debate over lunch. Professors bring three statements they are willing to defend, students challenge those statements, and everyone comes away with a greater appreciation for civil disagreement!
Student Oratory Competition
The UVA Student Oratory Competition is quickly becoming a tradition on Grounds! Students compete by writing and reciting 5-minute speeches on topics related to democracy, history, or civic life. A great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their rhetorical prowess!

Faculty Debates
Themed faculty debates, between two expert UVA faculty, allow students to see two differing viewpoints presented in a respectful way between two friends.
Tell Me Why
Tell Me Why is a new interfaith event series here at Think Again! Featuring faith leaders from different traditions, this event allows students to be exposed to complex discussions around important topics.

What's the Buzz?
A guided discussion and debate, "What's the Buzz?" is designed to help students explore relevant issues in a respectful environment. Whether you're a political science major or simply love to debate, this event offers a chance to hear diverse perspectives, challenge your thinking, and engage in civil discourse.
